The Sun Watches

The book briefly explains sun watches and various kinds of them, including tropical sun watches, horizontal sun watches, etc. and illustrates how to construct a sun watch, presenting some plans of old watches by astronomers and some modern ones by observatories and scientists through some photos and figures. This book has been published in cooperation with the Cultural Cooperation Section of the French Embassy in Iran, Iranian National Library and Documentation Organization, and the Committee of the Culture and Civilization of Iran and Islam. The sun watch is a device principally applied to how the solar time. It comprises of a platform on which some lines are engraved to determine time and an indicator which creates the position of the shade. The sun watches are affected by the geographical characteristics of the location in which it is utilized.
