IRAN RUSSIA BILATERAL ILLUSTRATION EXHIBITION

Upated on :2007

This exhibition represents the most popular and common tendecies in modern Russian book illustration. It is formed by the works made in the last few years by modern Russian illustrators ranging from the most distinguished elders of our profession to young people just beginning their way in book art. Some of the artists are awarded with high artistic ranks (like the Honoured Artist of Russia and the People’s Artist of Russia) and Russian and International art prizes and diplomas. We tried to reflect in our exposition the broad diversity of artistic manners, styles and graphic techniques, and the unity of modern innovations and preserved traditions, the qualities that always characterized the school of Russian book illustration.

The eldest artistic organization in Russia, the Moscow Union of Artists, celebrates its 75-year anniversary this year. Many Russian book illustrators are members of the Book Art Department of the Moscow Union of Artists (which consists also of book designers and font artists). Most of them are presented in our exhibition, which is formed via the Book Illustration Exposition Project – an collaboration of book artists for organizing book illustration exhibitions.
